Most benefits have a deadline, often 30 days after the job ends or after the birth. Applying late can mean losing months of money that you cannot claim back.

It depends on the country, your salary and how long you worked. With an average salary and 10 years of work, you get about 1,853 EUR per month, duration 12 months in Germany, 1,710 EUR per month, duration 548 days (18 months) in France, 1,400 EUR per month, duration 720 days (24 months) in Spain, and 450 USD per week, duration 26 weeks (6 months) in California. In the UK it is a flat 95.55 GBP per week, duration 26 weeks (6 months). Pick your country in the calculator above to see your own amount.
In most countries no, or only after a waiting period. Germany applies a 12 week blocking period, Switzerland up to 60 suspension days, Sweden 45 days and Poland 90 days, while Croatia, Serbia, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands usually pay nothing after a voluntary resignation. A dismissal, the end of a fixed-term contract or a justified resignation is different.
It ranges from 14 weeks at 80% in Switzerland to a full year in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia. Elterngeld in Germany is 65% to 67% of net pay, between 300 and 1,800 EUR a month. UK Statutory Maternity Pay is 90% of earnings for 6 weeks and then 194.32 GBP a week. The US has no federal paid leave, but California and New York pay family leave.
Usually the employer pays the first days or weeks and then a health fund takes over. Germany pays 100% for 6 weeks, Croatia 70% from the first day, Serbia 65%, Poland 80%. In the UK Statutory Sick Pay is 528.21 GBP for 30 days in total, now from the first day.
For two children: Germany 518 EUR per month, Poland 1,600 PLN per month, Austria 455 EUR per month, Ireland 280 EUR per month and Sweden 2,650 SEK per month. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain and North Macedonia child benefit is income tested.
It depends. In Germany unemployment benefit is tax free but raises the tax rate on other income. In Croatia it is not taxed. In France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, the UK and the US it is taxable income. Serbia deducts pension and health contributions from it.

In most countries you get no unemployment benefit, or get it later, if you resign or agree to leave. Before you sign a termination agreement, check what it means for your benefit.
Duration and amount depend on how many months you paid contributions and on what salary. Check that your employer reported you correctly before you apply.
Some benefits are paid gross and are taxed, others are tax free. The calculator shows the amount the rules describe. The money you see in your account can be lower.
Sick leave, maternity leave and unemployment usually cannot be paid for the same days. The order in which you claim them can change how much you receive in total.
Each country page opens in the local language, with the rules for all four benefits, worked examples, who pays and where to apply, and links to official sources. You can switch to English at the top of any page.

MyBenefitKit is a free tool by Limitless (OD LIMITLESS) from Ilidza, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the team behind NetSalaryKit, MyPensionKit and LoanPlanKit. Benefit rules are spread across laws, decrees and agency pages, and people often lose money because they apply late or sign the wrong termination agreement. We put the rules for each country in one place, in the local language, with links to the official institutions.
